that sucks, and then the woman gets blamed for not making a better choice....tell him his son will get to an age that he won't care about him any more because he was never there. don't push him it's his loss, make sure your son has some good male role models in his life, and that his looser dad pays child support on time. eventually the child will be a young man and he will say what he feels and he my chose to not have this person in his life at all

Give careful consideration to whether or not your son needs someone like your ex in his daily personal life. A father who ignores his son couldn't be that great of a role model. Maybe your son is better off finding his male role models elsewhere.

Talk to him and tell him that he needs to see his son more often. I don't know how old your son is, but one day, he could end up getting hurt. Every child needs a father and mother in their life. I hope that everything works out.

Whatever you think he will respond to.
If you call him on it, will take the criticism to heart? Or will he get mad and come around less to avoid your nagging?
I guess in some ways you are lucky he even comes at all - based on the many postings I've seen here. Sad.

My son's father never calls, NEVER. I'm the one that calls and put his son on the phone. He called once on his birthday and once more in a year. At least your ex is trying. Be thankful that at least he tries.
Good luck

Just forget it. You can't make him be a full time Dad. Be thankful your son gets something. Most kids get nothing.

Do what you need to do to protect the child. Beating up on him verbally probably won't change his behavior.

Forget it and be thankful that he tries at all. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
