dont remove it, just let it be. Sometimes you won't be able to open a page with Firefox. Use IE as a back up, ONLY. and scan for Virus, Spyware, and Adware.. keep your comp. secure! good luck.

Congrats on the switch. Unfourtently, Windows doesn't let you uninstall internet explorer. There are third party programs that remove it, but I've never bothered with them. However, there are two trick I use after I install firefox.
1)To make the ie icon on the desktop go away, you can add a simple item to the registry (the reference bellow is a link to a file that will do this for you; just save it to your desktop, you might have to right click>save link as, and double click)
2)Although you don't use ie to surf the web, other programs may still use the engine, and you could still suffer from its security holes. To disable ie, open it up go to tools->internet options, select the connetions tab, click the lan settings button, check the "use proxy server for your lan" checkbox, about halfway down, and fill in the server as 127.0.0.1, port 8080 (or whatever, doesn't matter because it doesn't actually exist). Remember to uncheck this to use windows update.

I don't think you can remove Internet Explorer (as horrible as it is !!!). Firefox rules, I recommend adding some cool integrated search engines:
https://addons.mozilla.org/search-engines.php
And plugins (like Adobe, Java, Quicktime...)
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/plugins/

I would agree with the first poster, there is no need to do anything with it, you can simply ignore it and leave it alone:) If its on your desktop just delete the shortcut or icon, so it does not get in your way

you dont need to do anyhting more just go ahead and use firefox, if you want to uninstall it go to control panel and add/remove software and remove IE but i would suggest against that.
