Just one of the many little discomforts that the astronauts have to put up with. However, there are scrubbers in the space suit to absorb carbon dioxide, water vapor and other undesirable gasses. Without a way to scrub these gasses from the air, an astronaut would soon be poisoned by his own exhaled breath. The scrubbing of the air in a closed environment like a space craft or space suit is actually far more important than adding oxygen. So it wouldn't smell bad for long.

Take off the helmet, let it air out a little, then put the helmet back.
