What is your opinion about the documentary coming out this fall that deals with the comments made by Natalie of the Dixie Chicks and how they were banned and dropped by hundreds of radio stations? They think it is politically driven how they were dropped, but the government does not tell each radio station to add or drop artists. Are they being over critical or is the USA just tired of them?

You all have missed the main point, they are coming out with a documentary about this whole issue. What are your feelings about that?

The Chixie ***** should have stuck to the music business, not political commentary, especially while in another country. I don't give a damn what their political views are and I don't want to hear it from them or Hollywood types. If they choose to mix their politics with their music then I choose not to listen to or buy their music. And "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice" either. My opinion of their documentary, Natalie opened her big mouth. They should suffer the consequences of that decision without all the 'whining" about it.

As far as them being banned from country music stations, the government didn't ban them, the listeners demanded it. I think about as many people will see their movie as attend their current concert tour. Not many in the US.

What do they expect to happen when they insult their base? Everyone was pretty much over the comments Natalie made in Britain. It just wasn't an issue anymore. Could she let it drop? No.

They come back with a cd where the first single is 'not ready to make nice yet' (or something similar), then she says she doesn't like most country music fans, and, I think, calls them all hicks or rednecks or something.

Did they really think the country music community would give them hugs and kisses after that. Come on. The ego of Natalie Maines.

It's up to each radio station to play or not play a given artist (or song). And the radio stations do this based on their listeners. If the listeners don't want to hear the Dixie Chicks because of their political views, then the radio stations will follow suit.

As with all celebs, they should shut the f*ck up and just entertain. Leave your opinions at home.

First of all what happened to free speech in this country?
I can say whatever I want about Bush...most people laugh...
Just because a person is an entertainer doesnt mean they dont have the same rights..of free speech..
People dropping the Chicks because of a political opinion are followers...
Tom Cruise is another public moron..but he unfortunately has the right to free speech..
I wish as many people got up in arms when Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney hit a NY police officer while drunk..........but that was a good ole boy stunt ...so they got away with it...
Double standards...
Entertainers are people..thats all..
Im not going to fire my mechanic or the woman at walmart because they hate BUSH...if they do the job theya re intended to do..thats my only concern.........
The Dixie Chicks still entertain.......and who am I to say they must like BUSH?..quite frankly he is a oil drilling money hungry moron who has this country screwed.............
So dont buy my new cd. :)~

Why would no one listen to a station that plays anti-Bush bands? Because everyone loves Bush? Most bands are anti-Bush. Most Americans are. Natalie had the right to say whatever she wanted. Speaking your mind is patriotic.

Banning Dixie Chicks is the same mentality as calling French Fries "Freedom" Fries.

I am all for it. To answer your question the gov't didn't tell radio stations to not play their music, but the dj's and radio personalities either offended or scared by what they said chose to stop playing their records. In my opinion it was a prime example of exercising the 5th ammendment- a citizens right to free speech. They said what they felt and I admire that.

Are you SURE the government doesn't tell the radio stations what they can or cannot do? One little memo from someone in government and you would disappear, am I right? But, I'm glad they took them off because they are irritating. If that big mouthed Natalie didn't have 2 cute sisters with her she wouldn't have gotten anywhere in the first place, ugly wench.

It's all about the business. If the radio station plays "anti-bush" bands, not as many people will listen to it.

What she did was outright treason and punishable by death by firing squad and all we did was ostracize her. She should be so lucky. They have had a NO 1 recently because liberal celebrities have bought their CD in blocks of hundreds. However, they cannot sell tickets for live shows and their tour had to be cancelled. What they did was so wrong that we cannot forgive them as long as American soldiers are dying anywhere in the world. Please remember to refer to them as the Dixie Sicks as they most certainly are.

Im still a huge fan! I love those girls. Its called freedom of speech and Natilie had the right to express how she felt. True she probably should not have said what she did being in the lime light like she is but she choose to speak her mind and she had to deal with the consequences. I think they are a strong group who have been through a lot of bashing but are strong enough to pull through. I for one will still be attending their shows and will continue to cheer them on. Oh and my continuing to be their fan as nothing to do with my feelings toward Bush. They just play great music and I love it!!
