I have a Honda Elete 05' that dose 45 and I have an HJC helmet. I love it. Full face but I dont care how stupid I look I just dont want my jaw riped off. I also have a Cortech jacket that I use when its cold at night or if its cool enough to ride with. A little extra protection never hurt. That and I ride other bikes when my dad comes into town.

Are you worried about your wallet or your head?
Get what fits you and protects you. At least DOT approved.
Do not get a bicycle helmet as suggested- brains on styrofoam don't help you. 15-40 mph is the "hospital zone", most accidents seem to be at the slower speeds you travel at.
My HJC 3/4 cost about $75 new.
There is a large variety available, go shopping.
DO NOT BUY USED

I have an HJC 3/4 and a Simpson 1/2. I paid under $100. ea.
If you are going to ride, don't dick around with anything less than DOT approved.

I bought a Scorpion helmet. It's a lot less than a Shoei, and fits my head well. But my advice is to go to a well stocked motorcycle shop and see what fits your head best. Seems different brands fit different people.

I fairly have 4 boys who're 13, 13, 11 and eight and that all of them placed on helmets for the two motorcycles and scooters and skateboards besides. they have pals who're no longer forced by ability of their mothers and fathers to placed on them yet I fairly have continually advised them that i do no longer understand why different mothers and fathers does no longer tension it for their youngster's very own protection. it fairly is via fact I care approximately them that I lead them to placed on it and that they know it. while my babies skateboard i in my opinion lead them to placed on each and all of the padding even my oldest 2 via fact they bypass on ramps and all. My 11 year previous and one among my 13 year olds had a collision sometime. one among them grow to be scootering and one grow to be cycling and that they collided by ability of accident. My 13 year previous grow to be on the bike and he had a scrape on his chest and palms the place he landed and my 11 year previous who grow to be on the scooter had a super scrape on his helmet on the front. If he hadn't had the helmet that harm could have been on his head fairly than the helmet.

Have to ask yourself, How much do I value my head?
Let that decide on how much to spend on a helmet.
