David Bowies ex wife.

According to;
http://www.snopes2.com/music/artists/bowie.htm
"The most common interpretation was that Angie was Angela Bowie herself, with whom Jagger supposedly (also) carried on an affair.

Angela Bowie's relevations on "The Joan Rivers Show" led some to speculate that the eponymous "Angie" was not Angela, but David Bowie.

Another prominent rumor was that "Angie" was actually about Angela Richards, Keith Richards' daughter by actress Anita Pallenberg. (This was a rather silly rumor, given that Angela Richards was less than a year old when the Rolling Stones recorded "Angie." It isn't even likely that Mick Jagger simply used her name for the song's title, as she was originally called Dandelion by her parents until she insisted on the name Angela several years later.)

Yet another rumor had it that "Angie" was about Anita Pallenberg, who had flings with both Brian Jones and Mick Jagger in addition to a multi-year relationship with Keith Richards."

I love all of their music: As I have all of their albums on vinyl. And I started to buy them when they first came out with The Rolling Stones England's Newest Hitmakers. Sorry to tell you it was not their first one in America. You forgot. I Can't Get No Satisfaction #1 in 1965 Get Off Of My Cloud....#1 in 1965 Paint It Black....#1 in 1966 Ruby Tuesday....#1 in 1967 Honky Tonk Woman....#1 in 1969 Brown Sugar....#1 in 1971 And then it was Angie in 1973 And the only other #1 hit they had was Miss You 1978. Favorite albums, I like them all the same, but I'll give you a couple. 1.The Rolling Stones [England's Newest Hitmakers]: The group's debut album was the most uncompromisingly blues/R&B-oriented full-length record they would ever release.The Stones succeeded in establishing themselves as creative interpreters, putting '50s and early '60s blues, rock, and soul classics [some quite obscure to white audiences] through a younger, more guitar-oriented filter. 2.Out Of Our Heads: In 1965, the Stones finally proved themselves capable of writing classic rock singles that mined their R&B/blues roots, but updated them into a more guitar-based thoroughly contemporary context. The first enduring Jagger-Richards classics are here, "The Last Time," its menacing folky, B side "Play With Fire," and the riff driven "Satisfaction" which made them superstars in the States and defined their sound and rebellious attitude better than any other single song. 3.Beggars Banquet: The Stones forsook psychedelic experimentation to return to their blues roots on this celebrated album, which was immediately acclaimed as one of their landmark achievements. Songs: Route 66 Carol I'm A King Bee Walking The Dog Not Fade Away Dead Flowers Sister Morphine Goin' Home The Spider And The Fly Home Girl Angie Satisfaction Play With Fire The Last Time Heart Of Stone As Tears Go Bye Pain In My Heart The Singer Not The Song You Better Move On Under My Thumb Lady Jane Let's Spend The Night Together Citadel She's A Rainbow In Another Land Salt Of The Earth No Expectations Stray Cat Blues BQ: hi BQ2: The Stones and why, because they played a heavier blues/rock style than the Beatles did. BQ3: Pink Floyd BQ4: can't choose love them both to death. BQ5: take care take care dave

This was thought to be about David Bowie's wife, Angela, a friend of Mick Jagger's, but the lyrics suggest it is about his relationship with Marianne Faithfull, which ended in turmoil in 1969. Another possibility is that Jagger wrote it for Angela "Dandelion" Richards, daughter of Keith and Anita Pallenberg, born April 17, 1972.

I thought it was about David Bowies ex wife but here is what I found.
Jagger: "People began to say that song was written about David Bowie's wife but the truth is that Keith wrote the title. He said, "Angie." And I think it was to do with his daughter. She's called Angela. And then I just wrote the rest of it."

I had occasion to spend some time with Mick and Kieth during the time that they wrote Angie. Kieth had a tumultuous romance with Anita Pallenberg, a beautiful Italian model, which resulted in the birth of little Dandelion in 1972 ( who he nicknamed Angie). The veteran rocker had a reputation to maintain, but in private his face lit up at the site of his little girl, and suggested to Mick that her name be used in the song they were composing at the time.
Dandelion goes by the name of Angela Richards these days, even though her mom and dad were never formerly married. .

I don't know nor do I care and I will tell you why. Having been a bartender for 6 years, If I would have had a dollar for every drunk (and sometimes non drunk) that sang me that song, I could have retired by now. I cringe whenever the song comes on and either turn it off or leave the room. It has left a permanent scar in my mind....lol. Now, mind you, this is supposed to be a funny answer, not rude as it starts out. :)
