if you mean a wireless router, then no. if you have broadband like dsl or cable then you should already be signed up for that service. you just connect your router to the modem that was provided to you by your cable or dsl provider. if you have dial-up, i wouldn't suggest using wireless. if you mean a wireless card, you don't have to sign up for anything. just install the card and make sure you have a router that it can connect to.

You will always need and ISP in order to connect to the Internet.
