Sounds like you won't have a choice on this if she's in a hurry. It's just saying that she'll also be responsible for the payments to get the divorce ASAP, depending on where you are, things may work out in her favor. This was probably why she got her own attorney. There may be changes in the settlement, so it would be a good idea to check with her if you two are still on speaking terms.

Hi,
I do not know what State you live in, but in Illinois, you can contest your Divorce. I AM TOLD, but am not sure yet, that one can easily delay a Divorce at least 2 years as you have to live apart for 2 years before they will grant a contested Divorce. Good luck.

It is fruitless to try to delay the divorce. You probably want to sell the house; price it appropriately, and you can sell it before the bank forecloses. (Talk to your banker and let him know what is going on.) You can get by with a smaller house, and if you sell the present one quickly, that will do the down payment.

Do not sign anything yet. They can't do anything for awhile w/o it. Find a job asap. My ex refused to sign too and we had to run a ad in the newspaper for so many weeks which made it notified the public of the intent. At the last minute he signed, reluctantly.

contest the divorce. in my state, you can for up to 2 years. then it is granted on abandonment of marriage. did you try talking to your ex? if things have been amiable, then she should understand your dilemma. you stated that you are going for a loan. she may be afraid that if you are still married, that it is marital debt and she don't want to take it on. communication here is the key. who has the kids anyway? you or your ex?

You don't, you get a job, if you don't have one getting one is your job. What does that have to do with your divorce anyway, she said you could have it.
