how did your views of other countries change? i used to think africa was a complete poverty stricken society, but there is this guy going to the same college as me, he is from africa, and he doesnt seem a bit different than anyone else i know. he enjoys the same things as me, basketball and such. anything like this ever happened to you?
*note: im not a racist, the media always shows africa as a vast land of poverty and tiger attacks, it just surprised me that it wasnt like this. but what should i expect... it is the media...

VietNam people were very cordial. Germans, Swiss, Austrians, they love life. Party aminals. French, a mime says it all. Dutch, pot legal, my friends that live there never tried it! Knew one African. His father was a doctor and his mother was a teacher in Nigeria. He was so happy that the 'State' sent him to college in the United States,(Laffette) to become an engineer. Forgot two things. The state killed his mother and father because they were against the political turnover. Twenty years in the military opened my eyes to what 99% of Americans don't see. You see what is on television. You cannot experience the world and it's people from television.

Other than in my native Mexico, I have lived in the USA and Canada. As I worked in universities, I have met people from all sorts of nationalities.
What I have found most interesting is not what I think of THEM, but what THEY think of ME and MEXICO. For some, it is plain difficult to accept that I am a doctor in science working at Princeton, and yes, mexican, that I should be cleaning the restrooms. Others think of Mexico as a very exotic and primitive place.
Stereotypes are not in short supply.

I spent five years in Saudi Arabia, and found few significant surprises there. Hence, my views of the people (nice) and the society (sucks) did not change much.

When I was in high school, we had a forgein exchange student from Brazil in my class....he was something else...the day before he left he told me he loved me...how sweet! I did not think that he was very different from me or my classmates. I think meeting people from different countries and cultures is very exciting and educational...who better to tell you about another country than one of it's natives!

Yes, I've met many people from India, Africa, Sudan, the Darfur region, Arabs, Jewish, British, you name it. It just reminds me that we're all human and we pretty much want the same things.

i ve been in many countries and met many different people with different believe. i found most of people are kind and honest . it depends upon your attitude and your precepts from the society that you go to. the more live with them and mingle with the local people. don't take any advantages for your self and melt with them eventually you would see that they might be much better than you are. finally we should practice love and harmony
