My daughter as well as myself, LOVE Spongebob! The creator is a marine biologist, truly.
It's comical and makes fun of the reality of underwater and such. He is based on a real ocean sponge(have you seen his parents? They are round), but they made him look like a kitchen sponge. Fits his character cause he's nerdy and 'square'.
I agree with you, he's based on a real sponge, but Spongebob just has added flavor. Go ahead and brag, he made not be totally real, but he's pretty darn close.

there's actual sponges in the sea that r real.
but neither of them live in a pineapple are speak with a pink star fish are other fish. for a fact .
but i don't think some facts r real.
so, yah i believe sponge bob is real :)

Sponge Bob is the poster child for weanies every where.
But, he doesn't live in a pineapple. He lives in an abandoned toilet, under the bay bridge in San Franciso.
