for all you lovely people out there i live in yorkshire the houses are cheaper and so is rate of pay i earn 600 pound per month, i have two kids, i am a single parent as my ex beat me up and put me in hospital but instead of sitting on my backside and feeling sorry for myself i earn a living instead of expecting all you lot to pay for me!! the council house is offered because of the low income i have coming in! and my spelling might not be the best but i am tired as i am up at four every morning. so can i please have some genuine comments please?

firstly, take the new house. doing up a house is incredibly fun. but then again you are a woman so you probably would screw it up.
secondly, for all you unbelievably thick americans, she clearly said POUNDS not dollars. maybe she should have used the pound sign (£) but thats not the point. learn to read and dont assume everyone is a yank!!!

How come you are being offered a council house when you can pay 470 a month at the moment? I don't understand.
And why would you want to live in a council house if you had the choice?
Judging by your spelling you don't have a good job - maybe you pay for your current house with benefits? If so, why can't you work?
Just a guess...................

Take the council house NOW - you can get the council to do basic repairs before you move, including cleaning the property and garden and repairing and/or re-painting where necessary. You just quote health and safety rules saying it is not healthy to move into other people's mess and as it is a council property they are legally bound to ensure that it is clean and habitual. Any other improvements you may want you can do in the future after you have moved in.

Wow $470 a month? Where do you live? LOL...I pay $725 a month for my tiny one bedroom apartment! I would much rather live in my own house even if it is more expensive, and especially if I like the area. I would also factor how long it takes you to get to work, crime in the area, etc. Good luck in deciding! =)

The old saying - if it ain't broke then don't fix it! If you do move, you could end up regretting it after it's too late. At least where you are now you know you love it, even though this other property has come up which is a lot cheaper. I'd advise you if money isn't too much of a problem, to stay where you are!

damn 52 a week?? um.. where is that ? this is a no brainer for me, i'd take the council place and save myself 250 pound a month... PLUS i'd be able to buy it with a discount thru the right-tobuy scheme and get on property ladder, instead of lining someone elses pockets each month

Council house, move now!! Anyway if you turn it down the council probably wont offer you another.
All the money you save on your rent can be used on doing it up.

Oh, pleeeeeeeease you are kidding aren't you? Tell me you are kidding. Be blessed that you are only paying that much. I lived in greensboro and I paid $760. for a 2 bedroom apartment.
Trying paying that .... on for size.
That is the trouble with people they are always wining about something when you need to be gratiful about what you got.
