Factors are the numbers that 15 is divisible by.
1, 3, 5, 15
For any integer, you can always list 1 and the number itself as factors.
Another example:
The factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24

What are the factors of 15? Find out which integers greater than 1 divide 15. 2 does not divide 15. 3 does. 15 = 3 x 5. What are the factors of 3? None. It is prime. What are the factors of 5? Not 2 or 3. So it's prime. So the factors of 15 are:
3 x 5
Any integer (other than 0, 1, or -1) has a unique factorization into prime number - unique up to order of the factors.

When 2 natural numbers are multiplied together it gives a resulting natural number.
Hence it can be said that the results factors are the 2 natural numbers.
Example:
factors of 15 = { 1, 3, 5, 15}
Note:
Natural Numbers are whole numbers beginning with 1.
Factors of a number always contains 1 and the number itself.
Prime numbers are numbers which only have 1 and the number itself as factors e.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 ...

A factor is each one of any two or more items multiplied together. AXB has the A and B factors, for example. A term, on the other hand, can be made up of one or more factors, as in y = ax^2 + bx + c; so that the first term on the rhs of the = is ax^2 where a and x^2 are factors. The second term is bx, made up of the b and x factors, etc.
Recognize that factor also applies to divisors because dividing is simply multiplying by the inverse of something...like x/a = xa^-1; so a and x are factors here as well.
Don't confuse factor with factorial. A factorial is really a specific kind of factors where the factors in a factorial follow the format N(N-1)(N-2)...(N-(N-1)). For example, if N = 4, then N! (where ! is the factorial sign) = 4! = 4X3X2X1 = 24 Factorials are used a lot in probability.

Factof: any number that divides a given number evenly.
12/1 because 12 divided by 1 equals 12
12/2 because 12 divide by 2 equals 6
12/3 because 12 divided by 3 equals 4
12/4 because 12 divided by 4 equals 3
12/6 because 12 divided by 6 equals 2
12/12 because 12 divided by 12 equals 1
