Genius. He could morph into characters that were so different it was amazing.

I share a birthday with him you know.

The only time he's ever really, really made me laugh was as Inspector Clouseau, if I'm brutally honest.

I suspect a lot of people will say he's a genius - but not for me. I don't think he was ever run-of-the-mill, though.

In real life he was a bastard. His real name is Maurice Micklewhite, born 1933 in Bermondsey, SE London. The best thing he did was Sophie Lauren.

I have to say I have never understood the adulation Sellers receives. To my mind he was vastly over-rated and very self-indulgent.
