The Bible isn't a history. Even for a specific group of people there are incredible gaps and the books were all written from a specific point of view.

The Bible isn't an instruction manual (I know I'm going to get flamed for that one). There just aren't sufficiently specific instructions for the day-to-day running of a church. The locals of that time relied on prophets for specific instruction.

The Bible wasn't (for the most part) written by the finger of God. If there are errors, they are the errors of man.

The Bible IS a pattern for living a moral and Christian life. It does tell us a little about the life of Jesus and the church that originated with the Jews. I would like to see the Atheist manual that comes close.

hmm a person after my own heart I have to say the bible seems to contridict itself on many levels and seems to be more fiction then fatc i have never seen someone turn into a pillar of salt and such things seem a little too Lord of the Rings for me someone could write a book today and store it away and thousnads of years from now someone could come across it and assume that this is life as it was in 2006 I believe there may be a God but the stuff there I dunno and also it seems to me to be close to a soft core porn i can t count how many times someone had sex and such in the first 200 pages lol
