If you can obtain a census number form the tribe your ancestors are from. Most Natives in N. Carolina do have some and have dark skins as well as those that leave up the eastern coastline. It's told that most of the Native American and Black slave mixed their race but I could be wrong. That;s what I've been told.

I am from the Dine Tribe on the southwest.

DNA tells your heritage and how much of what you have of each of the 3 main types.
Sometimes your blood type will tell
Most Europeans have type A blood mostly among white Caucasians.
Most Asians, American Indians have type 0 that is how they know that the American Indian came down from Northern Asia to Alaska. They have the same blood type as that from Sibera and Eskimos.
Most black Africans has type B blood. Most Americans has a combination of A and B or AB blood because those white slave owners used those women for sex.
But a DNA is the only sure way of finding out.
If you don't know your blood type and want to know donate a pint of blood it is free and they will tell you your blood type if you ask.
If you have type b blood your mostly black. Type 0 mostly Indian

Who cares. Just put Native American on all your applications- no ones gonna tell you different.

What the f*ck is black features? How do you know your "non black" features don't come from Whites or Asians or Latinos in the bloodline. Is your grandma Native. How 'bout great grand ma. Personally, if you have to go back more than two or three generations, you ain't that race honey.

why do you need to prove your heritage to anyone? It is your private thing is it not? So do not worry about proving yourself to anyone. Only you should believe in it and be proud of it!

birth records, tribal rolls...be warned, it's not that easy...roughly 3/4 of north carolinians claim to be descended from a 'cherokee princess'...it's gotten to be a running joke at pow-wows...
