We have had a verbal agreement about a set amount, but he has been slacking for months now and I sort of depend on that money for my son. It's only $300/mo and I know I can get more through Child Support. I have threatened to go through the State Child Support Enforcement, but I never have the guts to actually do it because he makes me feel like I don't deserve the money. He thinks I'm a "gold digger", but I'm just trying to support my child on my fixed income. Any suggestions on how I can explain this to him without him blowing up?

MAKE IT OFFICAL AND FILE IT. THEY WILL TELL HIM WHAT HE OWES YOU MONTHLY. DON'T LET HIM MAKE YOU FEEL BAD. HE'S THE BAD ONE.. SHAME ON HIM. THAT CHILD IS BOTH OF YOURS AND THAT IS HIS CONTRIBUTION IF YOU ARE RAISING IT! GO TAKE CARE OF IT NOW!!!!! THEY WILL TAKE IT OUT OF HIS CHECK AND MAIL IT TI YO. BE STRONG NOT A WEAK MOM. GET THAT MONEY FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILD.

Don't explain anything to him. I felt that way, too, but I knew that if I depended on my ex for money, we would starve to death. I have two children to take care of and they are very expensive. Just daily things, driving them here and there, co-pays for doctor's visits, and school needs and things like that are very expensive! Don't settle for 300 a month, that's not enough, anyone will tell you that. Go, right now, or make an appt. today to get what you deserve. Don't feel bad about it, you're not asking for money for you, it's for your baby!

Let me tell you this. don't let the media, or people, or him tell you that you are a gold digger when you are asking for the man to step up to the plate. If you have to dig for gold to provide for your child, so be it. Secondly, you have to find the courage to go to State Child Support because it isn't about you anymore, its about the innocent one- your son. The daddy may say, "you" don't deserve it but what about the one who never asked to be here? Bottom line, he will blow up, but it'll be great when you see money fall from that exlosion. Ha!

Sounds like you already explained it. I would go to child support if he is not paying what he said he would. Then you will go to court and you dont' have to go with what they suggest, you can say... this much.. and he can say ok.. Then it will be a fixed amount and they will take it right out of his paycheck and he will get in trouble if he doesnt' pay it. Good luck!!!

here's how to explain it, you either sign a notorized agreement on how much your willing to faithfully pay for support, or go to the courts and let them attach your pay.
don't let him play this crap with you, he's just trying to get out of paying anything. My ex tried the same crap, that I was spending all the money on myself, so I kept every reciept, for everything, and he only screwed himself.
Go to the courts, you will get you money on time.

turn him in. when he looses his license, has to go to jail or gets his income tax garnished he'll realize how important it is.

You don't.
His blowup will be his blowup, and that is none of your concern.
