I think what Sliding Doors tries to show us is that no matter how we get there, we are supposed to end up at a certain place in life.
There are hundreds of thousands of choices that we make in our lifetime, each that inevitably have us taking one path, or another path. I got dressed this morning; I wore the pink shirt instead of the blue shirt. If I wore the blue shirt, which brings out my eyes, maybe that guy would have noticed me at the coffee shop.
Eventually, I think that we end up either where we need to be, or where we are supposed to be. When Helen runs into James in the elevator, and then seeing that glimpse of "Hey. This is right," in both their eyes, we know that Helen and James are supposed to be together, even if it took them a different way to get there than the other Helen and James.
It's abstract, but we end up right where we need to be, regardless of where we thought we would end up, or where we thought we WANTED to end up.

Loved the movie, but not the question! All i can say is, dont do that to yourself!! You cant change the past! If you have seen the movie Sliding Doors with Gwyneth, you'll know that everything can change in one split second, with something so uncontrollable to yourself! Life is not within your control. We learn from the things in life that we regret. That's why we make mistakes. If we didnt ever make mistakes, we would never learn, and never grow as people! I, like everyone, have regrets. But i dont regret my regrets..? make sense? I learnt soo much, how to react next time, how not to react next time. You learn that next time you're in a relationship with some1 like Louise, you will appreciate her alot more, because you know what it could be like. There is no set plan in life, beause of our choices. All we can do is try to be the best person we can be all the time. By choosing the best path for that moment is all we can do! HOWEVER, even tho there is no plan, there is bunch of good paths to the best destination! God has an awesome gift at the end of it all. Its not supposed to be easy, thats why its called life! Its a test, a tough one. Dont think back on how you should of changed things, look back at how you can learn to react even better next time! wheew

If you go through life thinking what if, you'll never get the real answer, because you'll only play it out in your own mind how YOU think things would have happened. There would be no way of knowing what circumstances, people who cross your path, or events that would have happened had you gone that other way. It's kind of like a kid choosing to do something that is wrong, but in their mind they rationalize it out to where there's no way they can get caught because of however they visualize the events that would happen........yet, it never works that way since there are many unseen factors that interfere with the perfect wrongdoing in the first place.
What if's are only for fantasy, they never should be an obsession, as almost surely they would not happen the way you'd like to think they would.

Looking back I can name many things I think I would like to change but the truth is it has made me who I am today. I think what is supposed to be will be so I believe I had to take this exact path to get to where I'm supposed to go.
