The leaf was broken off at the soil line during a move and she told me to plant it in potting soil and it would grow. I'm just wondering how accurate the information is.

Yes they can be planted from a cutting. Plant it directly into a nice pot with some cactus sand/soil mix. (not just houseplant dirt)

There are several kinds of aloe vera plants. Some are not safe to drink. You can stick the leaf in soil and it will grow.

I'd put it in a glass of water until a root grows, then plant it in soil.

Sure why not. My mom did that with a plant but she didn't plant it she put it in a vase with water and the plant grew.

No, you need seeds to grow a plant, not leaves.

i don't think so honey. i think you need to get a plant from someone....that you can plant and it will grow
