Usually after the installation of a new program, some files will need to be refresh or reloaded, the program will not work properly unless those files are.

Most new software gets loaded in the registry. The registry is only read at boot-up time. Can't run a program if the system is unaware of it. It also clears out the cache of the temp files that may have been left by the installation.

Every time you install a new software, temporarily some data is stored in your RAM memory. This cannot be rulled out that the stored information on yoUr RAM memory is not just a set of programing code but also the very heart of the program installed. So DO NOT be stringent in Re-Starting ur PC whenever it is asked to do so.
If u do not do so, in future u may face problem regarding the same program. It may flash a warning that "The program is unable to continue. If this problem persist please re install the program" OR "The program may be corrupted due to faulty installation. Please re-install to fix it".

almost all security programs requires (especially antivirus and some firewalls). Microsoft products always require restart somewhere especilly if OS related. Most other programs dont require that, and it is most because the security programs want to check for any infected files before it starts to protect you and before infected file starts running. and Microsoft products usually cause a change within the operating system itself.
