I was about 95-100 pounds and 6 weeks pregnant and heavly heavly using pure crystal meth when I found out I was pregnant. I have a horrible problem with that nasty stuff. I can now say I am completely clean and healthy at a good 124 pounds now. I am just super worried about my baby. I saw a child that the mother used the entire pregnancy and he was retarted and it made me so sad. It also made me angry at the mother but most of all really worried about my baby. This is my first pregnancy and is hard. The father is still using and selling. I moved to a small town and live alone. I just want my baby to be healthy. If anyone can help me know more about my situation, I would greatly appreciate you! Thanks, Ashley

Hi Ashley I know how you feel. When I got pregnant with my oldest I was shooting an 8-ball of dope a day. That was before chards my dear. I did it till I found out I was pregnant then quit cold turkey I too was 6 weeks when I found out maybe 7. But my baby is perfect and beautiful and one of the smartest kids in his class. your baby should be fine honey. Make sure you are getting prenatal care and eating right tho. He started out at a disadvantage but you can make up for it. Don't worry about weight either just eat whatever you want. I was 93 pounds when I got pregnant with Jordan and I quit looking at the scales when I hit 200 but I still had a month toi o so I probably hit 205-210 maybe 220 who knows I don't :) If you want to chat email me . I would love to help you thru this. It is gonna be hard. I was so alone I moved out to the country and nobody came to visit I had no phone or car. I have been there honey I can relate to what you are going thru. I worried about my baby the whole time and he is just fine. A little small but his parents are so he will be. My youngest who thankfully I had quit before him is a chubby baby. 26 pounds at 8 months PORK he is so cute. If I don't hear from you good luck and congratulations.

Congrats on being drug free for 54 days I am sure that is a daily challenge but I think it is great that your doing that of course there can be problems with using any kind of drug during pregnancy (including smoking and alchol) but I also think some of it has to do with what is happening at the time keep in mind that the first 2 weeks of the pregnancy was just your body going thru changes to get ready for the baby..so I think that as long as you stay clean you probably have a decent chance with a normal pregnancy. Let your doctor know that you were using and find a great support group.

First off, congradulations for thinking enough about your child to stop using meth. That was the best thing you could do for your child. The next step is to go to the doctor and tell your doctor your situation, make sure your doctor understands that you had a major drug problem, but you are clean now. Ask your doctor what vitamins you can take and what steps you can take to make sure your child grows up healthy. I'm sure your baby will be fine, but for its first 6 weeks of existance it was exposed to Meth, so even though problems do not show up now, there is a chance of problems in the long run.

Are you receiving prenatal care and taking vitamins? Even if there is a chance there is something wrong with the baby you should do everything in your power to have a healthy pregnancy. Don't be ashamed to tell an OBGYN of your meth use, be proud to tell the OB that you are clean and trying your hardest to take care of this baby. Only your doctor can tell you for sure if there are problems with the baby.

Have u been to the doc? Talked with a counselor or social worker about this? Taking any pre natal vitamins? I truly hope that the baby will be ok. I honestly can not give u an answer, but do send my support and hope for you and your baby. Im glad that you were able to leave the father and do have somewhere to live safely. Stay clean. Goodluck with the pregnancy. Maybe this baby being conceived saved u from further meth use.

First of all--good for you. That stuff will kill you, so congratulations on kicking it for your baby. That's truly moving--and I just want to say that it's fantastic.

You stopped using early enough that you should be able to avoid major complications, but there still could be some issues.

Make sure you go to a doctor for prenatal care. Tell him/her that you did use meth, but that you are clean now (and be ready, because Child Services will probably need to get involved.) Tell him/her that you are telling them only because you are worried about your baby, and that you want to do what is right. Staying clean should avoid any legal conflict.

I've included a few links about meth during pregnancy. But definitely get to an ob/gyn right away to check for any complications.

This early in your pregnancy you and your baby should be fine, but now that you know just don't do it again there are many people that party during early pregnancy because they don't know that they are pregnant and their babies are fine. I would go ahead and schedule an appointment with your doc and get started on prenatal care. I would ask the doc if you are still concerned about your baby's health, and I guarantee that most docs have seen people that have done the same or similar things before they found out that they were pregnant. The most important thing is that you know that you are pregnant now and you won't continue with those behaviors.

Congratulations on being drug free for 54 days, and for the new baby on its way. I can't tell you how proud you should be for overcoming what might be the toughest obstacle in your life. The baby will be better now that you are no longer using drugs, but I don't know what type of damage you could of already caused to the baby. You need to see a doctor and explain to him/her what your situation was. Don't be embarrassed because of it, we all make mistakes in our life and we will have to deal with it every day. Please be sure to take your prenatal vitamins every day and keep away from the nasty drugs. I do hope you are seeing a doctor, if not, find one now. The sooner the better. They will be able to explain the possibilities of what type of damage could have been done to the baby. I hope everything goes for the best and I wish you luck with the future.

Hun,i am sorry to tell you that your baby may still have effects from it.Let your obgyn know the situations and circumstances. However, your baby can still be ok may just have some addiction issues then again it may not(Hopefully). When you are pregnant not only do you get addicted but your baby does too.Just allow him to know those details, and remember to tell him you are clean now and such.Just make sure you are more careful and more responsible once your baby is born.Let your obgyn know so he can be on a look out for any problems that may arise.Congratulations on being 54 days clean.Good Luck.

Thats so awesome that you are clean now. You should let your doctor know that you used if you havent already just so they can keep an eye out for any problems. My mother used heroin with me and Im perfectly healthy now she did stop too for a while. im 20 years old and am 36 weeks pregnant. She of corse died when I was six cuz she kept using daily until her body couldnt take it. I have high respect for you quiting and your child is going to have a great mother if you continue just dont go back to that lifestyle cuz growing up with out a mother is really hard on a child. Anyway good luck sweetie and hope things go well. Also this might seem weird to you but if you need to talk to someone you can email me I know i dont know you but i would love to help i feel really strong about these things.
