My guess is that it's psychological, based on things that happened in the past. For example, if a boy had a poor relationship with his father, he might never know what true platonic love between men looks like, and not knowing that, he's hungry for the love his father should have given him and so gets it the only way he knows how--through a sexual relationship with another man. Or a woman has an abusive father, which makes her feel like men can never love her so she turns to women, or a guy who happens to fit into the gay stereotype (maybe he has a lot of girl friends, enjoys activities that are traditionally feminine like fashion, or has a lisp) gets mercilessly bullied in school because he's gay--maybe his family even ostrachizes himi. Eventually, he finds the gay community, and there finds acceptance and love, and because that acceptance makes him feel he belongs, he becomes gay.

I'd say you're disregarding the most probable answer to your question. Homosexuality is a form of abstinence after all, since as you said, men cannot procreate with other men. Certain people's brains have been hard wired to receive difference neuron impulses to different stimuli... and some have been hard wired not to procreate.
Abstinence is a choice made by an intelligent individual that has nothing to do with genetics, where as homosexuals...from birth have always been different from heterosexuals. They have not made a conscious decision to be gay, they have only recognized that they were. Some realize it early, some later... and due to the social pressures in our culture... some not at all.
What you have to realize is that homosexuality has been around for all of recorded history. It occurs in animal and human populations all around the world... so wouldn't it be a bit naive to assume its some kind of a "defect", rather than a natural genetic property found in a small section of our population?

Hi. A recent issue of Science News had an article on male homosexuality and its relationship to whether or not there was an older male sibling. Evidence suggests there may be. The present theory is that the mother develops antibodies to the male baby during the first pregnancy which alter the genetic structure of the next male born. Interesting.

First of all, I wanted to say that I highly respect, as well as agree with, what "AJ" said. And, second... I was at a seminar once where a transgender male to female was speaking. She brought up the age old question, it seems, as to what causes homosexuality---> chromosomes. She was talking about a study, that is still in progress as far as I'm aware, where they have found many many different sex chromosomes, not just the XX or the XY, and the variance and differences between the ones they have found, tend to have things in common with the so-called "owner" of those chromosomes, with others that share the same type of chromosomes, that have lead the scientist to believes that homosexuals, heterosexuals, transgenders... all of us....... we take our "sexual" orientation or identity, from our chromosomes.

i don't have many recommendations, yet I do agree that toddlers could desire to study approximately homosexuality. maximum childrens have this image of their heads that gay every physique is disgusting, abominations, or some thing to snicker approximately. maximum childrens understand to no longer be racist (till their fool mothers and fathers practice them in any different case), so why no longer be accepting of the LGBT community?

There is plenty of research that indicates changes while in the womb lead to homosexuality. In some cases brains are affected and homosexual men have brains developed similar to women and vice versa.

Has to due with human curiosity and what makes one feel comfortable, throw in genetics and upbringing and there you go. Not like a mosquito bite can turn one gay.

It a choice . A choice made due to allowing unnatural feelings overtake your mind instead of listening to God. It is also so acceptable in this world that they don't feel like it's such a bad thing. Coming out of the closet isn't hard for gays anymore because it's okay now.

It is my belief that many folks have temptations of many types...homosexuality being one of them. That would be the cause you are asking about. Acting on the temptation is the concern that I'd have.
