I knew it was coming....Liberman became independent cause he lost out to a democratic challenger to run for the democratic seat in his district. So he is running as an independent to run. The truth is in the details.
Also, it not that they are running from republican parties. They are distancing themselve from Bush admin as not to take heat for it at the polls.

According to the last election, in 45 states more people registered as republican. The number of democratic voters decreased in all but 7 states.
