Instead of paying the phone company to install a new jack where I want it, I could purchase a wireless phone jack. I would then plug the DSL modem into the wireless jack. Will it work?

No, the phone is split into a digital signal and analog signal from your NID. The signal has to be directly piped into your modem for it to translate the Digital signal properly.

My best suggestion, get a wireless router and wireless nic for your PC. That will give the same mobility, and less hassle.

I have been working in a large telecom, that provides DSL, for about 5 years now...trust me on this one.

First of all, DSL is not wireless or part of the wireless network, it is the transport carrier. The wireless comes from a router. So the only way to make the internet connection wireless is to connect the wireless router to the DSL modem ( connected to the phone line) via the cross-over RJ45/48 cable. Then all of your computers access that DSL modem via the Wireless connections to the router. There is one application where the actual RJ11 (phone line connection) from the DSL modem can be connected to a cordless phone satelite input and broadcast wirelessly to the base unit physically connected to the phone line. There are a few brands of cordless phones that offer aux/satelite inputs. Good Luck
