No harm using that concentration of salt (1 tablespoon per 30gal).

Typically when used as a treatment aquarium salt is applied at a somewhat greater concentration (1 tablespoon per 10gal)

This just a way to make you spend money on expensive salt. Salt is not bad, but it's not good as people claim. Also there are no studies that prove that what your fish store sells works better than table salt, or kosher from your local market. For fun ask your local fish store if they use salt. Most places that use salt in fact use table salt or kosher salt.

Now people will say nnnnoooo table salt has iodine! Yes it does. It's because iodine is good for you. It's also good for your fish. The tiny amounts of iodine don't come in where near dangerous levels if you have a freshwater tank. Plus saltwater contains iodine. Kosher salt doesn't contain iodine, but I tend to use it as my foodie household has it on hand, and it lack anti-caking agents.

Note that salt is will help prevent freshwater ich. I use a teaspoon of salt per 5 gallons in my tanks. Generally it's kosher salt, but when I treat for disease I use table salt for the extra iodine.

Depends - are you using the salt as a tonic to ward off diseases or do you have brackish fish? Also, what kind of fish do you have in that tank? If you have any "scaleless" fish (most catfish, tetras, and some others), constant salt may do more harm than good.

If you have a brackish tank, you should use marine salt.

If you're using it as a general tonic, you should be fine.
