Capital Punishment is the infliction of death penalty for the commission of crime. There are very few offences in the Indian Criminal Jurisprudence where there is capital punishment, but it must be 'proved beyond all reasonable doubts' and the trial court awards this punishment after being satisfied that 'it is a rarest of rare cases' . After the awarding of the capital punishment, as per the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code the award has to be confirmed by the High Court.

Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the execution of a convicted criminal by the State as punishment for crimes known as capital crimes or capital offenses. The word "capital" is derived from the Latin "capitalis," which means "concerning the head"; therefore, to be subjected to capital punishment means to figuratively lose one's head.In most places that practice capital punishment today, the death penalty is reserved as a punishment for premeditated murder, espionage, treason, or as part of military justice. In some countries with a Muslim majority, sexual crimes, including adultery and sodomy, carry the death penalty, as do religious crimes such as apostasy, the formal renunciation of one's religion. In many retentionist countries drug trafficking is also a capital offense. In China human trafficking and serious cases of corruption are also punished by the death penalty. In militaries around the world courts-martial have imposed death sentences for offenses such as cowardice, desertion, insubordination, and mutiny.Among democratic countries around the world, most European and Latin American states have abolished capital punishment while the United States, Guatemala, and most of the Caribbean as well as democracies in Asia and Africa retain it. Among nondemocratic countries, the use of the death penalty is common but not universal.

It suppose to be more like a legal murder. Kind of like an eye for an eye. You do something so horrible, so evil that you have to be put to death. Either by lethal injection, gas, electrocution, etc. Of course it takes years for someone to actually be executed in the US. So You may die from man/justice system or of natural causes.
