It could be because they used to hold Football meetings at the Queen`s Head Hotel, and near by there was a house called ye old ancient toffee house the word toffee was also a slang for Irishmen, which there was a large population in the city at the turn of the century, who used to support Everton rather than Liverpool . A another tale says there was a shop called Mother Noblett`s Toffee Shop very near Goodisons Park, In the shop she used to sell Everton Mints on match days, and a girl would throw free Everton Sweets into the crowd. So believe which ever one you want.

Everton is the home of the everton mint, like a humbug. As well as having ball boys they have a young girl dressed in a victorian costume who throws the mints into the crowd before the start of the game, it is a tradition that goes back years and years ad years, so Everton got the nickname the toffees from the away fans who went to Goodison Park. It's good fun, I was a toffee girl when I was young, it was great, but I ate most of the sweets rather than giving them out!

Everton is famous for sweets called Everton Mints. They are black and white striped. I can only assume it's got something to do with that.

Everton the position **** i ought to admit, yet I regularly ask your self why the Kop has this variety of famous call, it sounded more desirable like a cinema target audience. Ive heard more desirable noise from a burgler in Duncan fergusons domicile.
