I want to install some old games but when I go to use DOS, a prompt comes up say: "This system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Windows applications".

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Windows XP doesn't actually come with DOS. It comes with a DOS emulator. 98 was the last system that actually shipped with DOS. You just may not be able to install the game onto your newer system.

Absolutely Windows XP doesnt have MS-DOS in it since the release of Windows 95 and 98. You might can search a software that can simulate MS-DOS and the game can be played by running the software

If I understand, you are getting this message when you want to play it? Try right-clicking on the icon and click on PROPERTIES. In the new window you should see a tab at the top marked COMPATIBILITY. Click on that tab. In there you can select different OS shells like 95/98. Sometimes this will work.

Another thing you can try is going online and seeing if there is a patch or fix for it. You might want to Google it with the name of the game in quotes, a space, and then the word PATCH.
