True story - Many years ago I lived in a old community (turn of the century) in New Jersey. I lived about a half a block from one of my good friends. They had just purchased an old three story home (about 125 years old). My friends wife began to complain about lights turning on and off during the night. This all began about three months after they moved in. Strange things began to increase. The washer and dryer would than turn on and off for no reason. About six months later the entire family started hearing a child crying each night. I got progressively worse as time went on.

The house was inspected several times but nothing was found out of the ordinary. Finally it got to the point where my friends wife went to the county seat and started researching the history of the house. The township engineer supplied her with the original blue prints of the house.

Her research found that in the late 1800's a family, who had the house built, had lost a child under mysterious circumstances. Old newspapers carried the story of a missing son about 5 years old who many thought was murdered by his mother. Since there was no body and the house was close to the Delaware River, it was dismissed as a probable accident. Many in the community felt differently about it as the mother was reportedly very unstable. Murder became part of many conversations but nothing was ever proved.

Finally my friends wife, aided by the original blue prints found that there was a fake wall constructed between the third floor and the attic. She became very atimate about having the wall removed. They hired a sub contractor to come in and knock the wall down. Behind the wall was a small room hidden from the rest of the house. And in the room they found the skeliton of a small child. The examinors office, through DNA and other tests proved it was the missing child. The boy had been murdered. The skull revealed a heavy blow to the head as the possible cause of death.

From that moment on my friends never had a haunting again.
