Why not make a cheap/reliable peoples car without all those accesseries ??

They keep changing things so much from one year to the other there is today no car I would call THE PEOPLES CAR. Maybe possibly the Government should make and publish plans that by law will never change for a peoples car that the majority will be able to afford without going into significant debt.

Please be more verbose if possible...english a bad language to take a triangle from one mind and place it exactly the same in another.

Because that stopped when Volkswagen stopped Making the Original "air-cooled" Beetle. Very basic. No air. No fm radio. heat sucked. vinyl seats stuffed with horse hair padding. And always smelled of gas. Best cars i ever owned and ran like you would not believe. too bad parts got very hard to find and expensive as the cars got older.

Generally, people like bells and whistles on their cars - even if they can't afford them. A stripped down car would only appeal to very sensible, budgetminded people, of which are few. Also, added features and options have big profit margins for car makers so there is little insentive for them to build it.
Also, there is little consensus on what is necessary and what is an accessory. Is air conditioning an accessory? Is power steering?

Have you seen the Kia line? The Spectra and Ria models qualfiy for the "cheap" part, at least. Any cheaper and you'll be dealing with used cars.

I can't comment on how reliable they'd be in the long term, though.

They already make cheap UNreliable people cars, they are called foreign vehicles.
