OK PRN is the term for "as needed".
Per deim as far as most employers means that you are not receiving benifits and you are receiving a slight monitary incentive for this.
Per deim translated from latin means "by the day".
So you need to check with your employer to explain this. If you are full time and they say they are paying you perdeim then you are being compensated for not taking benifits, if you are part time/and they say per deim then they are using this term interchangably for PRN or as needed.

Per Diem is latin for "Per Day"
It is a daily allowance given to you by the company to cover costs of food and lodging.
Most of the time, people who get "Per Diem" are working away from home.
For instance, I worked on pipeline back in the early 90's. I got paid $40 per diem to cover my hotel and food.
Per Diem in regards to Certificate of Non-Availability (CNA), still means "Per Day"

It means that you work when needed. You basically fill in the shifts that they need coverage. They do a schedule with the regular employees first and the per diem people get what shifts are left. Also, you should be available in case someone calls out sick.

Per Diem does not mean per day:
It is work as you are required. However, the rate of pay is higher than a standard work schedule because you do not get any benefits. Meaning: In standard work hours / pay you get medical coverage, dental, 401 K, etc. In Per Diem you get a higher hourly rate but you have to purchase your own medical, dental, 401 K, etc.
If you have a spouse or partner who has medical coverage for you both then this is a great option to make extra cash!
