I come from a military family and always made average grades but as we moved a lot I managed to never take a real world history class. I have taken US and American history And world Geography but know I have to take world history in college and I dont want to go in blind. I start next month. Can anyone recamend movies books or any other media that might help me get some basics before starting the class thanks

Check out National Geographic archives on the Internet or at the library. They have fascinating, honest, unbiased, and in depth reporting and coverage of history and culture from the whole world and beyond! My favorite magazine for years!

Having taken some history classes already has helped prepare you. Isn't that part of the point, to learn what you don't already know or build on some knowledge? Study your text book well and pay attention in class; spend time on it and you should pass it. If you don't understand things stop by your instructors office and ask questions, it helps. Right off the bat I don't know media info to give you a broad overview, you might check library media to check out.

watch the history channel. watch movies such as schindler's list, the anne frank story etc....no previous knowledge won't kill you. it might be tough at first but i'm sure you will be learning things you already know about. you can't really avoid history, especially in a military family...my guess is you've learned alot moving place to place or even about wars your relatives have been in. you are just getting worked up over nothing i think. good luck in school!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Generally professors tell you what you need to know. If you have a gist of world history down, you should be fine
