My doctor charges $160, but that does not include the blood work. But, my friend's doctor in the same area charges $180, so that should give you a range at least for SoCal.

Depends on where you are and what is included. Some states offer a "basic" physical on a "sliding scale" basis...that may be $2 or $150. If you have a good relationship with your doctor and are paying cash upfront and are having this physical at an "Ambulatory clinic" or a Private office outside a hospital, you may have the luxury of negotiating. To learn more about this, get "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz...there is actually a chart in the book that suggests what test you should be getting at what ages as well as how and where to get the best discounts. It worked for me!!!!! You can get the book at your local Barnes and Noble like I did, or get it really cheap at www.amazon.com. There is lots of good advice in there!

I remember someone telling me some time ago that the health dept. takes the uninsure to do routine exams and test, but they base their expenses on earnings you make at your job with proof showing paycheck stubs. I can't remember the percentage rate or co-payments but its worth checking out to avoid bills coming in from here and there. The hospital have different charges for this and that and they don't come in all at the same time. Before long, all depends on what test you're having and what needs to be performed, you'll get a few bills in the mail and wonder why when you just had one hospital visit.
You really need to consider getting some kind of coverage, it beats a blank.

U should check around. Call a couple of hospitals, check with a local clinic, and finally some communities have a health department that can refer u for free or low cost tests that might otherwise cost a lot at the doctor (chlosterol, blood pressure, etc)

Most pet owners have their pets checked by their vet once a year. While their dog or cat is there the vet will do a physical exam and give any necessary shots that are due. Prices vary quite a bit so call a couple of vets in your area and ask for the rates before you make an appointment. They will probably vary from $60 to $90 for an examination and shots for your cat.
