I have an oil on wood painting, dated 1953. It needs to be cleaned and I'm not sure if I should attempt this myself. Does anyone know how to clean it without damaging it?

if its valuable monetarily, or valueable to you, i would take it to a professional.

If the painting just needs to be dusted, you can use a (small, not for walls) paint brush to gently remove the dust. You just "paint" the painting using small gentle strokes. If the painting needs a deeper cleaning then ask around at antique stores and galleries in your area for suggestions about locals who do art restoration.
