First of all, we weren't put on this earth, we evolved here. This is what often troubles people about the idea of common descent and the Theory of Evolution through Natural Selection. It basically says that how we got here was through gradual changes to organisms that were favored by means of more successful reproduction. There is no goal towards which life strives, other than to continue living and to pass one's genes to the next generation.
Some people seem to think that this means we have no basis for morality or creativity, but to me, surviving and succeeding in life doesn't just mean eating, killing and mating. It means doing unto others as I would want them to do unto me, making my mate happy and safe, and discovering everything I can about how the world works and all the beautiful things in it.

we were put on earth ...because earth seemed the most favourable planet in the universe for human existence.....and as for "how did we get here":....is a complicated explanation,...we have evolved from a common ancestor that has made the apes...million years ago...there existed men like the Java man, Peking man, neanderthal man,cro-magnon man etc...they were our ancestors who were much like apes..with a bent posture, less intelligence...but we have evolved from the last group ..who equalled the modern man..>>the cro magnon man...thus u see .the existence and our origin is only recent...

You evolved from a monkey. And you probably walked to where you are now.

Descartes said "cogito, ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am)
That's it really.
