The question asked, made reference to this pregnant woman loosing her plug. She has cramping now and thinks she's in labor. I am a mother of one, my child is almost 17 years old, so maybe I forget what it is. I just don't ever remember hearing of any "plug". Can someone please tell me what that is?

It's a mucus plug that covers the cervix & you lose it before going into labor. The cervix opens when you lose it.

As I remember it from when my first wife lost her plug, it is a mucous plug that covers the inside wall of the cervix, it is there to keep the baby from just dropping out. My wife lost the baby due to an incompetent cervix, and the plug dropped just before the baby was lost.

It's mucus that covers your cervix. It's not exactly like a cork plug or shaped like that. Some women can lose the whole thing as one big chunk, some lose it in a few chunks, some lose it gradually like normal vaginal discharge over weeks.

the 'plug' is actually a mucous plug. you have one of these when you are pregnant. it actually seals off the entrance to the cervix to protect it from anything foreign.
