Gee, if you ask 10 people, you're going to get 12 answers. In my opinion, the two main branches are the "hard" sciences: such as physics, chemistry, astronomy; and the "soft" sciences: such as medicine, psychology, meteorology.

I'm not sure. I think it is physical sciences (chemistry, math, physics, earth science, atmospheric science, astronomy), and biological sciences (general biology, zoology, botany, anatomy, biochemistry (?), etc).
