Instinct, limited ability to use your senses, your guard is down, you are sleepy, the unknown.
Most of the predators that preyed on our ancestors did so in the night. Lepords particularly.
Many early humans died in the dark. Those who survived to pass on genes were careful and fearful.

Why AM I afraid of the dark? I'm not. There is nothing there in the dark that is not there in the light.

Because after midnight it is rush hour for all kinds of spirits, including the bad ones. People sensitive to that, get shivers down their spine and sense alien presence in their homes and bedrooms. That is why we always remember the ghost stories best we were told as a child. Because deep down inside we know there is more than the eye can see.

I actually like the dark. I can't sleep unless it's completly dark in my room. It's mysterious. I also like driving @ night. I don't know why, but it's nice. However, I hate dark streets or alleys. That's where bad things happen cuz it's so dark that u can't see what's lurking in the shadows.

because bad things always happen in the dark... you never hear news stories saying "after a lovely day of picnicking in the sun local teen slain in bizarre squirrel incident" LOL

I am not afraid of the dark. i have walked thru some dark streets and not feard anything. I believe in jesus and he will protect me:)
