I live near Columbus, OH and i've been looking like mad for an older(not older than '88) chevy truck to buy for under $2000. i just want the interior to be in good shape, have less than 150,000 miles, and have a 350. Am i crazy for expecting to find one of these for under $2000? i know chevy's have great resale value.

I looked for 2 years for one under $3000 before I finally found my 96, but I had to settle for higher mileage (205,000) but the Vortec 350 is known for its higher mileage use. I wish you good luck, look in salvage yards, and for private buyers like Auto Trader, or Truck Trader. You might have cheaper luck buying one this year at a car auction. Look for something that is wrecked, they are usually cheaper, and body damage really isn't that expensive to have fix. Good luck, and don't give up, you will find one yet.

They do hold their value well, and anything older like you want that has less than 150,000 miles will still be higher than what you want to pay. $2,000 won't buy much these days. You may have to find one with higher mileage.

You may want to branch out. Go look where there are an over-abundance of product, like Texas. You can find one here.
Go look on eBay or craigslist.com and fly down and drive back.
Also, no rust.

I say you will be looking for a while, you may want to broaden your search to other states by using www.cars.com or www.autotrader.com or www.ebay.com.
