You might consider writing a book about someone who wants to write a book but has no ideas. He has friends, encounters other people who are irritating or funny or hurting, etc. He starts to write about them and is trying to find a way of interconnecting all these bits and pieces. The book he writes turns out to be a fictionalized journal. His journal entries are what give the book continuity. Or something like that.
As a writer myself, I have to mention that wanting to write a book is not a very good place to start. Figuring out what most touches your mind and your heart is. Then let the muse express those feelings and you'll be on your way.
Good luck!

I like to use this book, it's called "The Writer's Block" by Jason Rekulak, it has lots of ideas that are general enough that your work will be original.
Here's one idea:
Write a story (or book, in your case) that begins with an explosion. Just start with an explosion, think of a reason for it to happen, then write from there. Set a page goal- say 200 pages- so you'll know how long it needs to be.

Jack : Read the papers, watch some TV, but remember no one has ever had an original idea in their life, especially if they speak English. It's the pretty much one of the newest languages on the planet so whatever we think or say has already been ideated in some other tongue. Don't despair though, because even the concept of a story of a guy who can't think of a concept for a story can be at least, amusing.

People tend to be dumb as I see. They try to hide that it sometimes does happen to them as well. It happens to everyone, writer or not that they run out of ideas. Well, as for my advice. Yeah, reading is a good thing because you can get lots of ideas from other books. But you can find inspiration in many other things as well. Like you catch part of a conversation while walking or queuing up in the bank. You can find something interesting in the papers that may give you a kick. Watching people in the park or in the café and trying to figure out who and what they can be is also gets your brain work. Check out some photos, maybe they can be inspiring to you. I think noone can tell you what to write about. One can only give you some source of inspiration and thru those you'll find your topic, or it'll find you. Good luck!

I wouldn't give you an idea if you paid me because you threatened to report Daffy Duck for simply speaking her mind. If you can't think of any ideas now then you probably won't be able to continue a book anyway you grass. Plus - learn how to spell!

Write a book about a guy who lives in a universe where people can see him typing on Yahoo Answers, but he can't see them (you make up why). Maybe he is drunk sitting with a hawaiian shirt and no pants one day and the next he is off for a date and decides to shoot off a couple questions before he goes. Next time he is picking his nose and wiping it on some near by scrap paper.
This could be a very funny short story.

you have to come up with your own ideas.
if you've got the urge to write and don't know where to start, sit down with a pen and some paper, start writing whatever comes into your head and see what happens.
remember that writing a book is generally not something that happens in a flash, you have to persevere and train like you would for anything. imagine trying to be a top-level basketball player, or even a mediocre one, without even trying to shoot some hoops - it just doesn't happen! look around you, be observant of people, carry a pen and paper with you at all times and keep trying.
good luck!

If you can't come up with ideas for a storyline have a think about characters and develop from there.
Sometimes writing freehand instead of typing can help with your flow, you tend to think at the same speed you write and aren't concentrating on finding keys, spellchecking etc - you can always type it up later.

Write a book about a guy who is trying to write a book but he can't because this elephant is following him around and keeps getting in the way.
