How do you clean a hat without putting it in the washing machine?

You can put ball caps in the dishwasher or you can let it soak in the sink. My husband personally will not wear a hat until it has gone through the washing machine twice.

Put the hats in the top of the dishwasher and use the dishwasher soap let it run through a cycle and at the end your hats will be like new.

to slightly freshen, you could sprinkle with baking soda and pound it out. my mother has a contraption that looks like a wire hat-you open it up and stick your hat in it, close it and through it in the wash. I'm not sure where she got it, but maybe you could try stuffing it with clean socks and putting a rubber band on it-that may help not beak the shape

Use a toothbrush and some laundry detergent then rinse with water or wipe clean.It will take some time but it will save the form of the hat.

Hat stores sell these hat protector things, so when you wash them they don't loose their shape. You can either put in the washer or the dishwasher. Either works good.

try putting it in the dishwasher w/regular dishes on normal cycle, or they make cap cages for washing baseball caps in machines.sold online and at wall mart not sure of exact name of product or who it is made by...good luck...if it isn't a baseball cap what kind of hat is it? Material made of?

Send it to the laundry. They are the best to deal with the dirty sombrero, specially if the hat is one of special value for U.
