what???? my grandma used to always tell me this: "honey you have to love yourself before you will ever have the strength to love anyone else"(friends, a man, even family) . Maybe u need to love yourself and then treat your friends how you would want to be treated. Talk to them if they are having a bad day. Call them once a week and ask how they have been. Invite them out once in a while. Dont be a fake friend though! if you really dont care how they are doing and all u want to do is go over and drink their beer then dont say "hey how have you been, what you been up to?" just tell them the truth "hey girl do want to drink tonight?" just be yourself and make friends. NO FAKEING FRIENDS ARE FOREVER AND PEOPLE COME AND GO. KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND YOUR ENEMYS CLOSER! GOOD LUCK I HOPE U FIND SOME TRUE FRIENDS CUZ THEIR GRRRREAT.

That's a good question that I think more of us should ask. In my humble opinion, a good friend is one who is willing to communicate with you regardless of the subject or the circumstance. A good friend is also a good listener..."listener", not hearer -- those are two totally different things. And lastly, a good friend is someone who is positive in your life even if the other person is going through a negative situation. However, before you can be a friend to someone else, you've got to, first, be a friend to yourself.

To be a friend is just showing up.
To be a good friend is showing up with good intentions and supportive things.
To be a great friend is showing up all the times good, bad and ugly. Love, respect and honor you best friend as your best part of yourself. They are reflections of you.

I choose my friends very carefully. Mine is my adoptive sister. If she calls with an emergency I'm there. NO matter what. Baby in tow and supplies for her.

When she does well- I support her with happiness and respect, even if she excels past me at my own game~ that's when you know your okay. When your happy that they are happy, without your emotions being negative about your needs.

Learn to hold your tongue if you don't have anything nice to say, learn to listen (VERY important), learn to encourage, sympathesize, smile, keep promises, and just be there for the person putting your own selfish desires aside. Would make for a good spouse too lol with an added "help with the housework."

A good friend listens and shows interest in another's activities or what excites them without trying to make that friend listen and show interest in their own.

A good friend is trustworthy and can keep information given to them in trust to themselves.

A good friend enjoys the company of their friend for just that, company.

Don't try to make friends, try to be someone's friend.

Just try your best!

Theres no reason y you shoulden't be able to be one I mean if they need a shoulder to cry on you should be their for them and if they need a mentor then talk to them!! Don't be affraid to ask things you think might be too personal cause if your good friends then you shoulden't be affraid to ask and wonder if you'll get a straight answer!! Don't worry about it just do what you think is best for them!!

Every time you encounter the person try to say something to make them feel good about themselves. Listen carefully to things they say and consider them, and take agreements with them seriously.
