Depends. Was it an accross the board bonus for everyone, or were they selected bonus's based on individual actions. You should also take into account that the other employee's may get irritated at you for getting a bonus when you were not at work, sharing the load. Thats just a fact of life, there are some mean, critisizing people out there. But, hope it works out positively for you and, glad your feeling better.

In this case it depends on what has happened at work.

If for the last 5 or 6 months everyone has achieved lots and bonuses are being paid I think its only fair that you miss out. How would you feel if you had been working really really hard and someone who hasn't been around (through no fault of their own) gets the same bonus.

However if its for work over the last year that has been good then I would say you deserve something - perhaps not as much as the others but something all the same.

Bonuses are given at the employers discretion unless it is contractual so please check your contract of employment.

If it is not contractual but all other staff have it and you have received it in previous years it can be construed as an implied term of employment in which case you should probably be entitled to it.

Get your solicitor to look through your contract and also mention the time off sick to them

Hope this is helpful! I work for an employment lawyer so i half know what im talking about!

Normally your previous perfomance rating is taken into account when deciding a bonus whilst on mat leave. It's normally just rolled over. I would query it with your manager. Good Luck.

Legally I don't know. Morally - no! It is people that insist on the same rules for everyone that make hard effiecient workers wonder why they bother.

Most likely not. The simple fact being that sick or not sick you've not contributed to the company.

some bonuses are based on "productive hours" which are actually hours worked.Even though you are still an employee their, your hours are based on "non productive" sick time.Usually bonuses aren't offered. Call your Human resource person.
