My overall favorent is Han Solo but since you want expanded universe I will go with Corran Horn (x-wing series, and I,Jedi)
Though Thrawn and karrde are pretty cool too.

I have been a Star Wars fan since 1977, and have collected every book I can lay my hands on. I'm not real crazy about KOTOR, but I do love how Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo have been portayed. I identify with Jaina, and love Mara's kick-butt/soft heart approach to life. Admiral Pelleon has turned out to be a very well rounded character, and Wedge Antillies has proven himself time and time again to be a central figure in the shaping of the galaxy. I have loved Booster Terrik's antics from the first time I "met" him, and have come to respect his son-in-law Corran. Han Solo will always be my first love. But out of all the characters from that galaxy far, far away, for me, Princess Leia will always be my hero.

My character didn't have a name but he was in "Splinter of The Mind's Eye"-the novel by Alan Dean Foster. He was an alien in the bar where Luke and Leia were having dinner. He had this long tongue and he was begging these miners to buy him drinks. They made him lick their boots first...pretty sad to read, but maybe that's why I like the poor thing..he needs a break

Palpatine. E.U. & Movies! Wasn't he great in Shadows, and the prequel-era novels?
Ok, pure E.U.... hmm... I hate so many of them... That little guy Han picks up with in NJO was pretty interesting. Jag Fel has so much potential as a character, I hope they expand him furthur. Wedge, though he appeared in the movies wasn't truly fleshed out until the novles. I loved him in Betrayal.

Well, most peaple are just going to be familiar with the movie's. You should have stated "universe Characters" in the title of your question. I got exited about the question, but not about your comment under the question. I don't have time to read- but my favoite character in the new movie's is Obi Won.

Hmm... I'd say the old wookie that takes care of Han in the first novel of the Han Solo Trilogy. Can't recall the name now, but I liked that wookie.

Do you actually expect normal people to know "Expanded universe Characters"?
You would be happy to get luke, leia, or Darth Vader (ones people know)
Mine is CHEWBACCA...whether you want it or not...he's cute in a giant animal sort of way

from movies; Yoda, he may be old but he can kick some serious @$$.
from book; Tenel Ka, she is a warrior princess from the Young Jedi Knights series.Although her arm got cut off, she is still the badest in her time.
i have not read any comics on it though, but my other fav is; Senator Amilidala, she may have had big hair before, but now she is a kick @$$ sniper.
