I am a 33 year old woman, who has a 16 year old daughter. I'm going to college this year. Does anyone have advice. I've never gone to a college before. If anyone is in the same situation, please answer back.

I started college last year, at 33. Was nerve racking at first, since I had never completed high school and had been out of the classroom setting for almost 19 years. But as things got rolling, I found that it was no problem at all, that the personal skills that I had aquired actually living life were helping me get things done. Understanding things in a mature manner really helped. Keep at it and good luck.

Older students often worry more than young students. But they also do better. My advise is to stay focused. Take classes that interest you and will help you when you are out of school. Don't be afraid to try new things. Work hard, but have fun too.

One thing I want you to remember. Even the most complex topics can be learned if you do it in steps.

You have already shown (here) that you are not afraid to ask for advice. Keep doing that.

One final thing. Make sure that you graduate before your daughter. You've got a two year head start -- so get to it.

You'll find getting back into the nuts and bolts of attending class, taking notes, etc. an adjustment, but that will likely be more than offset by the fact that you've developed a maturity and work ethic that the 18 year olds are still finding.

You'll be fine.

Good luck and Godspeed.

Go to college. When I was an under-grad. I remember seeing 50 year old students. It is never too late. Masters degree gets better, you see 60 year olds ; )

Good luck and never be scared to try something new, especially when it will benefit your future.
