Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here

The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.

Yes you need to see a doc. This could be GERD. We are seeing a lot of cancer due to GERD. They will try to help with medication or if need be a proceedure called a Nisson. I had it done 5 years ago and have not had 1 minute of heartburn since.

See a doc. I had heartburn since I was a kid. Turned out to be acid reflux. I take medication for it and now, it's completely gone. (prevacid)

Yeah, I think it could be Acid Reflux Disease. A shot of apple cider vinegar a day is suppose to help with that. But you really should get checked out by your doctor.

See your doc. Take precautions by drinking plenty of water and not eating for 1-2 hours before bed. Seeing the doc is really important though because of how long you've had this problem. The last thing you want is a hole in your esophagus.

Yes, go see a doctor as soon as possible. I too have had acid reflux since I was little, and it can really damage your esophagus, vocal chords, breathing pipe, and stomach. When the acid travels up out of the stomach, some of it may splash into your trachea, and cause vocal chord damage, serious infections and a swollen throat. Also, you can get cancer in the lining of your esophagus, or like me, you could end up with a serious ulcer....ulcers can kill you. So, please, please, please go to get it checked out!
