Yes it is very true. I have watched to catch a preditor on tv and they have shown that most of them are on myspace and it is sad, but I don't anything is safe for kids anymore. There are alot of teens that say they are older than they are and then they besically ask for the preditor. I think parents should be able to go on and make sure what their children are doing on these sites.

Yes a guy just outside of my town got arrested recently for soliciting a minor on MySpace. As soon as the kid figured out that this was an adult talking the way he was parents were told and you can guess the rest of the story, but what if the kid didn't tell the parents? So in my opinion it is unsafe!

1 predator is enough....

The danger comes up when those people convince the children to meet them in real life.
It is not very difficult to gain the trust of someone, especially a child or youngster online.

If as a parent you can somehow make sure your child is not going to meet anyone from there in real life or promise you to take them with you then maybe this is manageable. Not sure.

On the other hand - you can probably not really avoid online encounters which become real and so it may be better to find a safe way to deal with that.

There are more child predators than you can shake a stick. They have no fear and are very direct when they think there is achild on the other side. We live in a sick world and Yahoo is the nesting place for pedophiles.
I worked for Family and Children Services and you can only imagine what I won't say here what was reported.
Even the Vice President od Walt Dianey was charged, but I never know what happen to that!

It is definately not a good idea for a young kid to be carousing on myspace.com. You have no idea who you can be chatting with when you're on-line. The thing is that predators watch for certain things and ask certain things. For instance, you may post a pic of yourself in your football or cheerleader outfit. It may seem harmless, but a predator will then go find which school district you live in by knowing the school name or team name. They can be manipulative, as well. The problem is that they can be anyone and get all kinds of personal information, and the'll already know who to look for cause they'll see your picture.

David, in all honesty a computer in the hands of a child is dangerous to them. I do believe there are way too many sick folks out there who can get to a child. Parental guidance is a must at all times for their protection.

They are somtimes BUT... You cant kidnap somone with a computer. The ONLY kids ever abducted or molested were the ones who arranged a meeting with an annonomas stranger

It CAN be dangerous, if you are not cautious. If you just accept ANYBODY as your friend instead of your actual friends and talk to complete strangers, then yes it is dangerous. If you don't put any personal information and don't talk to anyone but your actual friends, then it's perfectly fine. You just have to be careful is all.

It's only dangerous when parents don't do their jobs and know what their kids are doing online. Where are the parents when their thirteen-year-old daughters are posting X-rated pics of themselves? Please. It's a cop-out to blame the site. Parents need to know what their kids are doing online.

Yoi is totally right! I mean you need to be cautious. The kids that did get hurt from it were doing stupid things like telling info to ppl the really didn't know.
