I want to move to the UK. Can I apply for a job to work in the UK gov't? Will I have a hard time?

Yes you should apply to the local govt office of the town/city where you plan to live.

You could not work in departments like Defence - all their staff must be British and have British parents and grandparents - and would have trouble in other jobs which require high level security clearance. But there is no general bar to Canadians working for the government.
However, working here in any job requires a work visa, and I don't know if you can get one unless you already have a job lined up.

Yeah sure - if you are granted leave to remain in the UK and a work permit. You are talking about the civil service aren't you cos think the PM job is taken. I am technically a civil servant as a teacher - if you're one of us you will get a job no sweat!!

As it's a member of the Commonwealth and has the Queen as it's Head of State, I would assume that you wouldn't have too much of a problem.

course you wont, english are intrigued with canadians. youll be welcomed with open arms, but dont go to london theres noone english there and there usually to busy to talk unless you can help them up the corporate ladder. snobs.
