i'm male and frequently wet the bed from about 5 - to about 11! i had horrible night-mares in which i urinated! i stopped at about the time i began to have nocturnal erections (it's hard to go with an erection) which woke me up.
my bed wetting began when the dreadful fear of my abusive/frightening dad took hold. it seems that i spent my entire early childhood SCARD TO DEATH OF MY PARENTS. the horrible tensions of our everyday life was relieved in sleep when i'd wet - often several times a night! the rubber sheets, spankings, diet restrictions, self-hate, discomfort, etc. was mind boggling.

there's much more to this but i'd like to suggest that, if your kid is wetting, you might consider the kid's emotional/psychological condition (especially FEARS) along with genetic/physical causes. i know that you, like my parents, don't want to ever admit that YOU ARE THE CAUSE of your kid's reactions/behavior but YOU ARE for the most part! so, do somethng about your parenting!

re: Ouch.
Um, go to the bathroom before you go to bed, and don't drink big glasses of water at night time.
.....thanks but none of that ever worked for me because the wetting was an emotional problem - not a physical one.

Thanks for sharing with us. I have a 10 year old daughter who still wets the bed on occasion and I do think it is related to stress for her. Children are a reflection of their parents, but sometimes circumstances can come to a head where it's unavoidable to create stressful situations. An example of that in my life is when I seperated with my husband. This had an adverse affect on my daughters bed wetting, but I never make her feel guilty or bad about it.

I am so sorry for what you had to go through. I wet until 3rd grade. It was awful. The shame and scorn from your family. My son wet until he was in second grade. My daughter - no problem - but she is a nail biter.

Recognizing is half the battle to not repeating what has been done to us.

sounds like a small bladder. It was not your fault and when the dreamed wetting or dreaming of water starts try to wake yourself up and go to the bathroom. UNLESS you have been or are being sexually abused then that is also a sign.

Umm get a girl and sleep with her then you wouldn't wet the bed because you wouldn't want to pee on her unless you like golden showers but don't worry in time ...
