My stirngs now are "meant" for heavy metal, but they sound dead and without tone. I want some strings that will kick *** and give me a sound that I can (for instance) jam along to Metallica with.

Look for Ernie Ball brand "Skinny Top Heavy Bottom" size strings. The E, A, and D wound strings are a little thicker, for fat palm mutes and power chords. The G, B, and high E are unwound and a little thinner for fast leads and bends.

well...I was gonna tell you which ones my husband uses,but now I'm not gonna just cause you said heavy metal and metallica in the same sentence.thats bad.
