The average age that a chinchilla lives is ten to fifteen years and some have been known to live up to eighteen years of age. You can check at your local pet store and pick up a book or two about your pet so you can be more informed.

You have had this rodent for 4 years, and you don't know the basics on the animal??? Chinchilla's can actually live for 15 to 20 years with proper care. They are a long term commitment, so it's best to know as much as possible about them.
